OSINT (intelligence from open sources) claims that Ukraine has a JDAM-RU guided bombs for 1000 pounds (453 kg), used since 2023, the supply of which has not been reported.
Earlier it was only known about the 500-pound bombs JDAM-ER GBU-62 (MK-82), however, in early February, the X OSINTECHNICAL account published personnel discharge with Ukrainian Su-27 new heavy bombs. Probably, they are based on the MK-83 aviation mine and can be called GBU-63.
The Ukrainian Air Force just released what appears to be the first footage of a Ukrainian Su-27 Flanker dropping 1000lb JDAM-ER glide bombs on a Russian position.

Interestingly, according to The Aviationist, “Neither Boeing, nor the US Army mentioned the existence of a JDAM-RU version weighing 1000 pounds.” Although the MK-63 Quickstrike 1000-pound mine exists, the military never mentioned that it was modified with JDAM or JDAM-ER sets.

Bombs equipped with a JDAM-RER system have GPS and folding wings, which increase the range of their use to 80 km. Such a distance allows planes not to approach the enemy air defense systems and avoid defeat – as in the case of Russian bombs (controlled air bombs), which Russians terrorize the Ukrainian cities and the positions of the military along the front line.
The standard JDAM set consists of a tail that contains a global positioning system/inertial navigation system (GPS/INS) and planks for additional stability and rise. The JDAM Extended Range (JDAM ER) system is additionally equipped with an inexpensive set of wings to increase the range.

Ukraine receives JDAM-RER bombs from partners since 2023. They are adapted for Su-27 and MiG-29 aircraft using special pylons with additional navigation tools. Airplanes drop such bombs using the converting technique (taking a vertical position with a set of heights) at low height for a better flight range. Thanks to the GPS, the bombs are quite accurate. However, the massive use by Russians of electronic warfare systems (REB) reduces the effectiveness of any ammunition using GPS.
