Epic Games has sold popular 3D artist platforms ArtStation and Sketchfab to KitBash3D as content creators resent the dominance of generated images.
The transaction amount was not disclosed, and the site itself was transferred to new owners on August 10, 2026. Epic Games representatives noted that the company will now fully focus on the development of Unreal Engine 6, the developer ecosystem, and the Epic Games Store.
Users welcomed the news enthusiastically, hoping the change in leadership would help clean up the artificial intelligence market. ArtStation management has stated that they are ready to hear feedback from authors and regain the lost trust of the community.
Do you think the change in ownership will help protect the work of digital artists from being dominated by artificial intelligence?
