The EVE Online universe is facing a new wave of wrath from the community after developers responded mildly to rule violations by prominent content creators.
Anchor Lorumerth, who was previously stripped of his partner status due to the pride flag emoticon scandal, has once again attracted the attention of the community. During the stream, he hosted an in-game ship raffle on Twitch to raise donations, which many players considered a covert sale of real money (RMT). After a heated discussion on Reddit, Community Director Peter Farrell (CCP Swift) promised to look into the matter.
It later turned out that due to the strong dissatisfaction of players, the anchor only temporarily blocked and confiscated the items, thus escaping punishment. At the same time, CCP Swift himself admitted that he made a communication error and failed to convey the important background of the investigation to his colleagues, which is why the initial penalty was too lenient. Most players were unhappy with the studio’s explanation and felt the situation was condescending towards popular influencers.
