Fahrenheit 213, the studio founded by former Fate/Grand Order and Dissidia Final Fantasy creative director Yosuke Shiokawa, has started accepting sign-ups for the first closed beta of its upcoming side-scrolling action RPG Tsuruhime. The developers are preparing to allow only 100 people from around the world to enter the server, but there’s an important caveat: This will be an extremely unusual test.
Instead of a standard demo with the beginning of the story, the developers prepared a special version in which the plot, location exploration and upgrades were completely removed. Testers will get a five-minute survival mode where enemies spawn constantly. The goal is to score as many points as possible with combos and get high on the leaderboard.
Shiokawa himself explained the radical approach and said the project was preparing to enter full-scale production. Now, it is crucial for the team to perfect the basic “combat”. The author does not ask for polite feedback from players, but for the utmost honesty and harsh constructive criticism.
We’ll be entering full production soon, and until then I want the combat system to be flawless. That’s why this test is so narrow – it only focuses on the combat system, because that’s what I want to honestly evaluate.
I want the game to get to the point where people are saying that the combat system in Sword Princess is really fun. Every comment is read by the entire team, so I’d rather hear flaws than be polite.
Yosuke Shiokawa, Head of Fahrenheit 213 Studio
The concept of the final version of “Sword Princess” is centered around “100 days until the final battle.” Exactly how the player uses this time (whether to keep fighting, exploring the world, or building a relationship with the heroine’s sister) will determine which of several endings he will reach.
In addition to Shiokawa, very prominent industry veterans are also involved in the project: Kuroboshi Kohaku (Sword Art Online: Gun Gale Online, Kino’s Journey) is responsible for character design, and Takeharu Ishimoto (The World Ends with You, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII) is responsible for composing the soundtrack.
Applications have started to be collected here we go The event will last until August 23rd. If more than one hundred people are interested, participants will be determined by drawing lots. CBT will be held from August 25 to September 6, 2026.
It’s worth noting that Fahrenheit 213 does not enforce a strict confidentiality agreement. If testers indicate this is an early build of the project, the game can be streamed and gameplay released.
