The Castlevania mobile universe has suffered a major loss: Konami has announced that it will be shutting down its Castlevania: Book of Souls action game. The program, which became an Apple Arcade subscription exclusive in 2021, will cease to exist entirely in early fall.
According to the official statement, the game will be removed from Apple services on August 20, 2026 (leaving only a few days for users to download), and the final server shutdown will take place on September 3, 2026. After this point, the project will become completely unplayable, becoming another example of irreparable loss of digital content.
Spin-off combines elements of classic Metroidvania Symphony of the nightrole-playing system, as well as cooperative and PvP modes. Despite five years of overwhelming fan support, Konami decided to cancel the project without stating any specific reason. The only consolation for die-hard fans of the series is the upcoming release of a new game, Castlevania: The Curse of Belmont, scheduled for release in October.
