AI assistant Anthropic Claude has mastered new email skills. Not only can he now manage his own Gmail inbox, he can also send emails without the user’s prior consent.

The ability to connect Claude to apps in the Google Workspace ecosystem has been around for quite some time: there are tools for managing Gmail emails, Google Calendar events, and Google Drive files. But so far, he hasn’t been able to send letters to Gmail.
Anthropic decided to fill this gap and implemented for Cloud the ability to reply to incoming letters—an AI assistant that could write letters and send them on his behalf without user interaction. The user still needs to ask Claude to do this, but if you ask the AI to reply to an email, it can simply send the reply without interrupting the user’s view. You can choose in the settings whether Cloud requires confirmation before sending an email.
