Xiaomi announces list of devices that will receive “Liquid Glass” in HyperOS 4

Xiaomi has released a list of devices that may get the new soft glass effect as part of the upcoming HyperOS 4 update. The listing was released for the Chinese market, but since it is based on chipset features rather than market preference, similar global models should also get the new features.

The soft glass effect is heavily inspired by Apple’s Liquid Glass interface. Since it requires complex graphics rendering and interactive lighting effects, only certain Xiaomi devices that meet the processor requirements will get this feature in the HyperOS 4 update.

Xiaomi said that during the beta testing phase, the soft glass effect will not be available on all devices. The company says this UI element requires further optimization, so it will initially be available on devices with Snapdragon 8 Elite or higher, Dimensity 9500 or higher, and Xring O1 or higher processors. Here is a list of devices included in the beta testing program:

  • Xiaomi Mix Fold 4;
  • Xiaomi Mix Fold 3;
  • Xiaomi Mix Fold 2;
  • Xiaomi Mix Flip;
  • Xiaomi 17 series;
  • Xiaomi 17T series;
  • Xiaomi 15 series;
  • Xiaomi 14 series;

  • Redmi K70 series (except K70E);
  • Redmi Turbo 5 Max;

  • Xiaomi Mi Pad 8 Pro;
  • Xiaomi Mi Pad 8;
  • Xiaomi Mi Pad 7 Ultra Commemorative Edition;
  • Xiaomi Mi Pad 7S Pro;

The soft glass UI effect has been launched on the first batch of Xiaomi devices in HyperOS 4 beta testing. The test program is currently limited to China, but will soon be rolled out globally. In the future, the company plans to implement this effect on more devices, including older models, in addition to those included in the first phase of beta testing.
