The moment is approaching for the artificial intelligence startup Anthropic to go public in the United States, so expectations related to this event are starting to be discussed more and more actively in the media. Bloomberg reports that the company aims to beat SpaceX on key IPO financial criteria, and it’s important to remember that Musk’s similar effort was a record-breaking one.

In this sense, Anthropic’s minimum plan is to complete an IPO and achieve the same results as SpaceX. Last quarter, the latter listed on the stock exchange and raised $75 billion; taking into account additional placements, the amount increased to $86.2 billion. These plans for Anthropic have not yet been finalized and may be revised to notes Bloomberg.
In May, Anthropic raised $65 billion, boosting its capitalization to $965 billion, beating out rival OpenAI, which had $852 billion in capital based on a $122 billion raise in March. At the end of last year, Anthropic suffered a net loss of US$42 billion, but from an operational perspective, it was able to turn a profit in the second quarter of this year. The company’s revenue rose to $11.5 billion last quarter from $787 million year-over-year, according to preliminary estimates. As of the end of July, annual revenue was reported at $65 billion. Even before it goes public, which is scheduled for this fall, Anthropic will open a $10 billion revolving credit line. After the IPO, Anthropic’s co-founders will receive a majority of the votes, although their share of the capital will not actually increase.
Overall, in the U.S. stock market, new issuers were able to attract $160.6 billion in funds from the beginning of this year to August 19, although this figure is still far from the 2021 level of $195.2 billion. In addition to SpaceX’s IPO, the largest IPO in the United States this year was the initial public offering of South Korea’s SK Hynix, which raised $26.5 billion through the placement of depositary receipts.
