On August 21, 2026, the MMORPG adapted from the famous online novel “Lord of Mysteries” officially launched open beta in China. The game is developed by SPARK NEXA studio on Unreal Engine 5 and will run on PC, Android and iOS – it is currently limited to China, and the developers have not yet announced a global release.
The project recreates the iconic universe of the original source: a Victorian mystery aesthetic, a path system with sequences of character abilities, recognizable locations like Tian Gen, and a ritual combat system with action role-playing elements. The game is aimed at fans of the original novel, but also offers full multiplayer gameplay.
Even before the public beta began, the project had already achieved impressive results: the game ranked first on the most downloaded list in China’s App Store and topped the charts on Bilibili and TapTap. The number of pre-registered players on TapTap has exceeded 2.1 million. Excitement during the character creation phase was so high that the developers were forced to add two additional servers – Abyss and Death – even before the official launch.
Client preloading started on August 19, two days before the start of the test, so players don’t have to waste time downloading on launch day.
It’s unclear when or if the game will launch outside of China, but its successful launch could be a signal for the developer to speed up work on a global version.
