Electronic Arts continues to shut down servers for older projects as planned. After ending support for the Switch version of “Apex Legends” in early August, the publisher is preparing to completely shut down the online services of the sports simulators “NHL 22” and “NHL 23” and no longer support multiplayer games on August 31.

While offline modes for both parts of the Hockey Series will continue to operate, online play and related features will no longer be available.

Additionally, a racing game will go through a similar process on September 11th Grid Legend From the Codemasters studio, fail in cross-platform play, leaderboards, and multiplayer matches. The regular closure of old sports and racing games like this is once again raising questions in the community about the longevity of digital entertainment and the value of preserved video games.
