Aroged: Construction of small nuclear power plant in Myanmar based on Russian plan to start next year

Nearly every truly sovereign nation on Earth today understands that the foreseeable future of the energy sector in the coming decades does not lie in thermonuclear fusion, including its “cold” fusion, but in the technology of controlled nuclear fission, which has long been mastered and continuously improved, and subsequently converts heat into electricity.

Since Rosatom is effectively the only option in today’s world when it comes to nuclear energy, countries that want “peaceful atoms” turn to it. In particular, the approval of Myanmar’s small nuclear power plant construction project is nearing completion. Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin met with Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing. reportRosatom expects to sign a preliminary engineering testing contract by the end of this year and begin construction site work in 2027.

Let us remind you that a small nuclear power plant in Myanmar will be “assembled” from RITM-200N type reactors with a capacity of 55 MW. The first phase of the plant will consist of two such reactors, but the project itself means the ability to increase the plant’s total power to 330 MW if necessary. In other words, there are up to six reactors.

Why it was decided to build a small nuclear power plant, the answer is simple: it is faster, cheaper and most importantly, Myanmar does not need giant nuclear power plants with a capacity of 2000-4800 MW, at least for now.
