The creator of No Rest for the Wicked explains why his game is no longer featured on major gaming shows like Gamescom. According to the developers, traditional demos no longer justify themselves: for the right to show your game on stage, you have to pay $250 to $500,000, in exchange for just a few minutes of airtime and no guarantee of a good spot on the broadcast.

That’s why the studio created its own format, “Wicked Inside.” Mature broadcasts allow authors to explain new mechanics in detail, deeply immersing players in the process without pushing the team into strict boundaries or pitting the project against a random second-rate version for the sake of momentary fame.
