Hound13 studio has abandoned its previously released rules for revamping the action role-playing game Dragon Sword: Awakening. The developer admitted that the document caused confusion and concern among players, with its language giving the impression that strict restrictions were already in effect.
The team said in a new message that previously submitted proposed changes have been withdrawn and will not be applied. The relevant provisions are also not yet in force, so no restrictions on modifications are introduced in this announcement.
Currently, the developers are asking the community to adhere to just two basic principles. We are talking about not allowing violations of the rights of players who purchased the game or DLC, and the use of content that has not yet been officially released. Hound13 emphasized that these are not new rules, but requirements related to forming a creative environment around the game. The studio has not considered any controls or plans to enforce these principles.
Previously, the author provided detailed documentation on the future integration of the Steam Workshop. It had wider restrictions but has now been abandoned. According to reports, the reason for the initial announcement was due to some modifications being made in ways that were beyond the studio’s direct control. The team decided to write the rules in advance in case this type of work came up, but the document was ultimately written in the style of existing official regulations. Because of this, players may think restrictions are in place, according to the developers. They recognized that this formulation had a negative impact on the creative activity of the community and that the initial assessment of the situation was insufficient.
Now, Hound13 plans to rethink how it supports the Steam Workshop in Dragon Sword: Awakening. The developers also promise to thoroughly discuss such measures with the community before making new announcements.
