Nvidia has released DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction, introducing the second generation Transformer model for ray tracing and path tracing games. This update applies to all GeForce RTX graphics cards (RTX 2000, RTX 3000, RTX 4000, and RTX 5000). You can get it now through Early Access as part of Nvidia Apps.

Nvidia first announced its new light reconstruction model at Computex in May. The company then announced that the update would be released in August, following DLSS 4.5 super resolution, dynamic multi-frame generation and 6X multi-frame generation technology.
The new light reconstruction model has 35% more processing power than the previous version and handles 20% more parameters. According to Nvidia, this is achieved while maintaining the same performance. The model also uses a larger training data set and has a more fine-grained time accumulation setting.
Nvidia says the updated model improves lighting accuracy, temporal stability, and motion detail. Ray reconstruction technology replaces the traditional denoising algorithm, combining the reconstruction process with DLSS super-resolution technology, using space, time and game engine data to reconstruct pixels that were not selected during ray tracing.
Users can enable DLSS 4.5 ray reconstruction by selecting to receive a beta version of the new technology in Settings > About > Early Access in the Nvida app. For supported games, you can select the new model in Graphics > Driver Options > DLSS Overlay – Model Presets. Nvidia recommends selecting the “Recommended” option for light reconstruction or “Default F” under the “Customize” section.
The same Nvidia app update brings customizable resizable BAR controls, G-Sync Pulsar, and support for borderless window mode for optimal gaming settings. Nvidia says that a stable version of the Nvidia App (not an early version) containing these changes will be released in September.
