Take-Two Interactive, parent company of Rockstar and owner of the series, is trying to identify the leaker and remove the content posted online.
The company has also gone to U.S. federal court through proceedings under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, requesting information from Microsoft and Discord that could help identify the people behind the accounts used to post the material. Judicial measures also constitute indirect confirmation of the authenticity of the disseminated content.

Rockstar has yet to comment directly on the new leaks, at least publicly. However, according to Bloomberg , the reaction within the studio was anything but positive. Employees and managers will be ‘frustrated and exhausted’also because this is the second time something similar has happened.
The fact that security measures put in place after the 2022 incident failed to prevent new breaches will also weigh on the situation. These include the decision to eliminate remote working for employees in an effort to tighten control over game development.
Rockstar leaders still work hard to boost team morale. According to Bloomberg, “one of the game’s top executives sent an email to employees condemning anyone responsible for the leak and assuring them that the incident would not affect the great work the studio is doing.” The game’s imminent official release may also lessen the impact of the leak. In fact, Rockstar and Netflix have announced that Grand Theft Auto VI: Expanded Edition will be released on Thursday, August 27th. The material will be broadcast on Netflix in Italy at 9pm and will also be released on YouTube later.
