Xbox and Asus Open Pre-order the ROG XBOX Ally series of new portable gaming devices. The X20 version was launched earlier this year to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the ROG brand. The device can be pre-ordered separately for $1,299 and will go on sale on October 15th.
The ROG XBOX Ally X20 features a black gold design with a translucent body, gold internal design elements, gold-plated fans, and lights around the rocker. The rear panel features the ROG 20th anniversary logo.
The main technical change on this model is the 7.4-inch ROG Nebula HDR Display screen with a resolution of 1080p. It has a peak brightness of up to 1400 nits, supports VESA True Black 1400 and FreeSync Premium Pro technology, and has a VRR range of 30 to 120 Hz. According to ASUS, the anti-glare coating on the screen reduces reflections by 65%, which will make the device more comfortable to use in a variety of conditions.
The developers have also updated the controls. The X20’s joystick uses a magnetic TMR sensor with a 3% dead zone and a new anti-4-axis algorithm. The D-pad has a rubber/metal hybrid design that lets you switch between 4-way and 8-way control. Buttons are flatter and positioned closer to the body.
In addition to the $1,299 version, the ROG XBOX Ally X20 will also be available in a special package priced at $2,499. In addition to these devices, it also includes ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 AR glasses, dbrand Killswitch cases, and Pelican cases. The glasses sell individually for $799.
