1666 Amsterdam: Panache Digital Games goes into early access

Development studio Panache Digital Games has released the long-awaited action-adventure game 1666: Amsterdam on PC on August 25, 2026. Since the opening of Night Live at gamescom, you can now buy the game via Steam and the Epic Games Store for €29.99. To coincide with the start of sales, the creators have revealed a new launch trailer that gives you a deeper look into the dark world, characters, and mysterious powers of the game. The developer emphasizes that the game is actively being developed for early access with the community, and your feedback in the official Discord channel should have a significant impact on the future of the project.

1666: Amsterdam, you enter a historical setting intertwined with dark forces. The commercial metropolis of Amsterdam may be built on wealth and power, but beneath its streets lurks an ancient secret. The so-called “primitives” – powerful entities that have lived unknown among humans for centuries – have abused their power. Now it’s your turn to claim this debt. You take on the role of Noa Brooklyn, who was raised as a so-called Collector precisely to carry out these power heists.

Gameplay is strictly divided into day and night: during the day, you will explore hand-crafted Amsterdam, tracking primitive people, identifying them hidden behind human masks, and marking them for the coming battle. As night falls, Esbat’s magical ritual begins, and all living beings reveal their true forms. In dynamic combat, you must use Noah’s witch magic, spells, and tactical skills to achieve your goals.

A particular highlight of this mechanic is the constant change between two completely different characters. Noah doesn’t wander the city alone: she’s accompanied by Aaron, who was summoned from 1999 and now experiences the world through the eyes of a cat. You can switch back and forth between Noah and Aaron at any time, enjoying two completely different play styles. Noah relies on heavy magic, while you and Aaron use your four claws and animal agility to discover hidden paths, scale buildings, and view objects from new angles.

Since 1666: Amsterdam is in Early Access, and from now on you can expect regular updates and content expansions to take the fate of the city into your own hands.
