The genre of city building simulation is experiencing colorful and creative developments. As part of Gamescom’s opening night live, publisher Paradox Interactive, developer Iceflake Studios and the LEGO Group unveiled the new building game LEGO Skylines. The game combines the proven principles of modern city building simulation with the almost unlimited design scope of colorful clamping blocks. You can look forward to bringing your own dream city to life on PC (via Steam), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
In LEGO Skylines you can expect a particularly fun and easy-to-understand type of gameplay. You start your journey on an undeveloped piece of land where you build your first house. Then, step by step, you’ll watch how your small community develops into a vibrant metropolis built from LEGO bricks. To ensure that your little yellow dolls live together smoothly, you’ll first have to take care of basic infrastructure, such as road construction, electricity and water supply, and food production.
Once the infrastructure is in place, you can unleash your creativity. You build comfortable homes for your people, build vast recreational parks, and provide hospitals and high-end shops for your citizens. Whether you turn your city into a vibrant cultural capital full of museums and sports venues, or open a small bakery selling fresh donuts on every street corner, it’s entirely up to you. As the city develops, you will continue to unlock new buildings, tools, and decorations to increase the happiness of its residents.
The project is being led by Finnish development team Iceflake Studios, whose team members brought their passion for LEGO sets directly into the development. The studio draws on its years of experience in complex management games to offer you a completely satisfying building experience where every stone is where it belongs. The LEGO Group also emphasizes high standards to deliver not just another licensed game, but an outstanding representative of the genre.
