The secretive project, formerly known as Project Bonfire, now has an official name. As part of Gamescom’s opening night live, developer and publisher NC revealed the next generation survival shooter Like or Die to the world. The action takes you into the dynamic world of interstellar gaming and combines fast-paced combat with tactical building mechanics. A specific release date has yet to be confirmed, but the gameplay scenes shown already promise a blend of cooperative survival, esports atmosphere, and strategic terrain design.
In Like or Die, you don’t compete like an ordinary soldier, but instead play the role of a crazy streamer, broadcasting the game to millions of viewers through the global streaming platform Quaya Stream. Your main goal in the game is very simple, yet extremely demanding: you and your team must gather resources across the map, outwit your opponents, and leave the battlefield as the last surviving force.
Central to the gameplay is an innovative block action system designed to provide significant strategic depth to the shooter genre. You’ll be able to use special tools to build and place blocks on the fly, reshaping the battlefield to your liking. These cubic structures can be used as cover from enemy fire, as a makeshift staircase to height advantage, or as a protective bastion for your own team’s connections.
The enemy’s hub is your most important target. If you manage to destroy your opponent’s connection, you’ll eliminate their respawn option and deny them the chance to return to the game. In addition to rapid gunplay and tactical building, you must constantly acquire resources during matches to purchase more powerful weapons, items, and equipment upgrades.
In keeping with the streamer theme, sponsor deliveries and so-called lucky blocks in the air provide extra excitement around the map. NC promises to reveal more details about the planned beta phase and Like or Die release period in the coming months.
