From novels to video games
This adventure will take Volvi through four worlds filled with enemies and bosses, with the goal of collecting onions, allowing the protagonist to maximize his abilities. The character will be able to utilize his big hand Overcome Obstacles: He will be able to use it to hover over large chasms, move along tracks, quickly traverse scenes and go underground.
Onion harvesting will also have special features. When Volvy consumes enough of them, he can transform into Swolvy, a Protagonist muscle version Designed to handle the most difficult situations.
Devolver Digital looks to return to private company
The story is also described in Devolver Digital’s usual humorous tone. Some wizards release a mysterious gel-like substance and kidnap Volvi’s friends, forcing the protagonist to go off to save them and stop those responsible.
One of the announced features is a movement system based on Volvy’s big hands, which lets you slide, grind, dig and destroy enemies and obstacles, as well as reach secret passages. The game also aims to deeply revamp the visuals of previous versions (ahem): every pixel of the original Volvy’s Adventure and subsequent re-releases has been reimagined and reworked with color added by the original team. That’s a lot of work considering the source material is absolutely random. There’s no shortage of new content, either, like the entire game. The mini-games that existed between one level and another have been redesigned (ahem) and, according to the official description, will no longer contain references to: Encourage children to smoke.
