The survival game showed off seven minutes of new gameplay for the console version at Gamescom. Cross-platform games and DLC based on the successful film have also been confirmed.
Funcom took to Gamescom in Cologne with its survival game Dune: Awakening and, most importantly, the PS5 version of the game. The console version was especially highlighted at the show, which is why you can watch a seven-minute trailer for the game below.
There is additional news about the title. It has been confirmed that Dune: Awakening will be expanded to include cross-platform play upon console launch. Therefore, joint gaming between PC and console will be possible if a corresponding update is released after the console launch; however, there is no specific date yet.
Parallel to the console version, a new DLC “Filmic Archive” inspired by the successful Dune movie will also be released; therefore, the additional content will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC on September 22, 2026. It features iconic looks from the films, including the Shield of the Untouched armor based on Paul Atred’s vision of the holy Fremen warrior in Dune: Part One, and the Kaladan Stormcloak worn by Paul and Duke Leto in Dune: Part One. The DLC includes additional costumes from the film, as well as a rich 73-piece Sardaukar style base building set.
Finally, the key technical data of the console version were discussed and finalized again. There is a performance mode of 60 fps and dynamic resolution on PS5. On PS5 Pro, performance mode operates at 60 fps and higher resolutions. In Quality mode, frame rates are 30 fps on both systems, and you can expect an upgraded 4K display in both Performance and Quality modes.
