As the source noted, Nissan will make the most significant contribution to the development of the new platform’s hardware and software, but Honda’s experts will also have an influence on the outcome. The jointly developed platform will be harmonized by power plant type and can therefore be used in vehicles with internal combustion engines, hybrids and electric vehicles. Mitsubishi Motors, which is partly owned by Nissan, may also join the Japanese alliance. The three brands combined sold 7.3 million vehicles last fiscal year. The unification of hardware and software platforms will save costs, and the data accumulated together will make the training of professional artificial intelligence models more effective.
