Linux 7.3 will be developed for AMD Zen 6 processors for the first time, support Ryzen AI Halo RGB lighting control, and improve compatibility with devices from Asus, HP, Lenovo, Samsung and other manufacturers.
For the 1Ah Model 80H series of Zen 6 processors, the AMD HSMP driver gained support for protocol v7, and AMD PMF gained additional functionality and a new interface for obtaining device indicators. One of the most noteworthy innovations is the Ryzen AI Halo LED driver, which allows you to control the backlight and RGB on a mini PC with Ryzen AI Max+ directly from Linux, without the need for proprietary software from the manufacturer.
The update also significantly expands support for laptops. For the ASUS ProArt PX13, support for special ProArt keys appears, and the Armory driver enables adjustment of power limits on more models. For HP, they added GPU MUX switching and independent control of the processor and video chip fans. Lenovo has received drivers for the Yoga Book 9 14IAH10, and the new ThinkPad now supports USB Type-C protection, allowing you to charge the device when data transfer is blocked.
In addition, Linux 7.3 adds support for Samsung Galaxy Book6 Pro and new features for Uniwill laptops, including keyboard backlight control, automatic startup when connected to power, and USB power distribution. Portable gaming PCs haven’t been forgotten either: the update expands support for MSI Claw and adds compatibility with the OneXPlayer X2 Mini Pro.
