IllFonic has announced that Halloween: The Game will not be released on the Playstation 5 in Japan. The project was originally scheduled to release on Sony consoles on September 9, 2026, the same day as the Xbox and PC launches. However, due to the game’s strong violence and nudity, the developer was unable to obtain a local CERO rating.
In a statement from IlFonic famousthe studio is considering changing the content to comply with CERO requirements. However, according to the developers, such changes “It will seriously disrupt the worldview of the original movie.” And it doesn’t allow us to maintain the gaming experience our fans expect.
Halloween: The Game will release as scheduled on Xbox and PC in Japan on Wednesday, September 9th. Unfortunately, due to the presence of violent scenes and nudity in the game, it was unable to receive a domestic rating from CERO (Computer Entertainment Rating Organization), and the game’s rating was canceled on PlayStation Japan. We concluded that adjusting content to ensure compliance would significantly alter the worldview of the original film and would also prevent us from delivering the gaming experience our players expect.
