Survival simulator Soulmask gets major update, adds new areas and floating islands

Survival simulator Soulmask has released a major update, “Beyond Gravity.” The developers have completed development of the world of Quicksand and added a new area of the Burning Plateau, an underground complex of sacred ruins, three new masks, a final test of floating islands, and the ability to build your own base in the sky.

The Burning Highlands is a scorched land located outside of the desert area, where players will face beasts and sand bandits. At the center of the area sits the last of the pyramids, previously protected by deadly sandstorms. This territory is now controlled by the sand bandit leader and a huge warship. You can storm it from the ground, or you can rise into the air with the help of a mask and board the spacecraft through a barrage of naval gunfire.

Deep in the Burning Highlands, a new complex appeared, the Sacred Relics. The underground structure resembles an inverted pyramid and is connected to four underground cities at its base points. To open the central portal, you must pass all tests and resolve related mechanisms. In the finale, players will encounter a mechanical adversary, Divine Retribution, who can transform his throne into a deadly set of weapons and fill the arena with poisonous gas. Defeat him to receive the new Performer’s Mask.

A total of three new masks appear in the update:

  • The Shadow Hunter is designed for evasion and movement, and in mimicry mode it summons ghost cats, whose numbers will be restored when killed.
  • The Lord of the Sands inflicts damage to nearby enemies, and the damage increases as the character’s health decreases.
  • The performer affects enemies with gravity waves, and in mimicry mode you can move through space over short distances and levitate hordes of opponents in the air.

Another major element of the update is the floating island. After collecting 14 divine crystal fragments, players will be able to repair the so-called remains of the sun god and obtain the core module. Its activation at the bottom of floating islands reveals the origins of quicksand gravity and climate anomalies. The final battle takes place in an unstable environment and features waves of enemies, including powerful holographic enemies.

This update also affects construction. Floating foundation systems eliminate the need for a base to be anchored to the earth’s surface, allowing you to build your own island in the sky. To supply water to such a base, mist collectors were added, collecting moisture directly from the air.
