The first trailer for the new expansion pack for “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt” reveals plot details of “Song of the Past”. The events will unfold after the main campaign and Blood and Wine, which will see Geralt travel to Leiten, a small county in northern Redania, home of the Dandelion.
The bard invites his old friend home for the Festival of Belletany, but soon after the festivities end, he mysteriously disappears. Geralt must figure out what’s going on, explore a new area and uncover the supernatural secrets associated with it. The author separately emphasized that the DLC will allow for a deeper reveal of Buttercup’s character and show off aspects of his character that received less attention in the main game.
New characters include the bard’s relatives – his brother, cousin and grandmother. Additionally, players will meet Count Humbert de Leithoff, Dandelion’s ancestor who was driven mad by a curse. In total, this add-on will offer dozens of missions.
One of the notable innovations in the game is the Silver Chain – a weapon that can already be seen in the original Witcher’s cinematic introduction. It’s mainly useful in battles against a group of opponents. The developers have also added new daily animations for NPCs, including riding a carriage and rowing a boat.
Song of the Past will be released in 2027 on PC (Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store, Battle.net), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch 2.
