CD Projekt RED has officially confirmed that players do not need to have completed The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt or completed a save and achieved a certain level of progress to experience the new content Song of the Past. As with past major DLCs, the add-on can be launched from the game’s main menu.
A representative from CD Projekt RED confirmed information to reporters at Gamescom about the possibility of launching Ballads of the Past directly from the menu. As was the case with Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, you can start adding prepared characters with the required levels and gear. But the opportunity to go with your own heroes.
The plot of “Ballads of the Past” will be dedicated to the search for Dandelion, who disappeared after Bertany’s celebrations. Geralt must travel to the new region of Leiten in northern Redania to uncover the secrets of his friend’s family. The developer promises a lot of new content, including a silver chain that will be used in combat.
At this time, CD Projekt RED has not specified the duration of the “Ballads of the Past” DLC. Judging from indirect reviews, the amount of content will be close to that of the Blood and Wine DLC, which means we can expect 10-15 hours of main story and around 10-15 hours of additional content.
The Songs from the Past DLC will be released on Xbox Series X|S in 2027, and there will be no Xbox One version.
