The first AAA-RPG game from Polish studio Rebel Wolves (founded by CD Projekt Red personnel, including The Witcher 3 director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz) will be released on September 3, 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series. But the media has played the release and shared their impressions.
On Metacritic, the game has a score of 83, and on the Open Critic website, the new product has a score of 85, with a recommendation of 90%.
Critics particularly praised the film’s strong plot, well-developed characters, and eerie dark fantasy setting of 14th-century medieval Europe. Much attention has been paid to the “man by day, vampire by night” system and 30-day limit, which gives weight to every decision and significantly improves replayability.
They point out that player choices do affect the story and world. Many are calling the project a worthy successor to The Witcher 3, but with its own face and vampire theme.
At the same time, critics pointed out technical issues and hassles typical of open worlds, sometimes complaining about performance and visual glitches. Not everyone likes the combat system: some praise its weight and variety (swords and claws), while others think it’s not deep enough. There’s a sense that this is more of a solid start to a new series than a fully polished masterpiece.
