We bar you from complaining about us: Sony asks court to move to arbitration as class complaints are barred

Sony Interactive Entertainment asked the court to transfer the class action lawsuit to individual arbitration, citing the terms of the PlayStation User Agreement.

The lawsuit stems from a lawsuit filed by four console owners who allege the company violated California law by using a “Buy Now” button to purchase digital copies of games that were actually revocable licenses. Sony representatives denied the accusations and said consumers could not have been misled because the service’s rules clearly explain the legal status of digital purchases.

Both sides have until mid-September to submit rebuttal documents, with a key hearing in the case scheduled for October 1, 2026.
