Beyond the pure action, the focus is on the Nexus scans: Nolan analyzes bullet holes, compares bloodstains and reads neural chips to reconstruct events. Most sequences are dedicated to looking for clues and multiple-choice dialogue. The film also emphasizes the smooth transition between first- and third-person perspectives, as well as the reconstruction of memories of related objects.
