Independent developer Moon Studios has officially announced that the promising final version 1.0 of No Rest for the Wicked has been significantly delayed. The original release date of October 2026 on PC and PlayStation 5 has been pushed back to March 2027. As the creators of Ori and the Blind Forest emphasized in a direct message to the community, the additional development time gives the team the necessary freedom to make technical fine-tuning, performance optimizations, and a fundamental overhaul of the class system. Meanwhile, details about the release dates of Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2 are still to be determined.
The delay may be disappointing for many who have been waiting, but the studio is focusing on using the remaining months to engage the fan community. To ease the long wait, several closed testing phases are planned over the coming months, culminating in a large public beta test in December 2026. Through “Wicked Inside,” a regular video format on YouTube, the developers hope to ensure transparency and give you insight into design decisions, content updates, and current development status.
To compensate early access buyers, the studio has also extended access to the exclusive “Founder’s Pack.” While the deadline was originally set to end on July 10, the deadline for PC players has now been extended to January 1, 2027 – anyone who purchased the game after the original deadline will be considered retroactive. PlayStation 5 pre-orders will begin in January 2027, which means console players will also be able to get bonus packs.
In addition to a handcrafted secret hideout (the “Cave of Souls”), the set also includes the exclusive sword “Sayer’s Vow”, a special Founder’s Tag, and permanent access to the closed beta test area, which will be available to you after the official release of 1.0.
In The Evil Dead, you play as a holy warrior named Cerim, saving the island of Isola-Sacra from a dark plague and political turmoil. Since launching into Early Access, the dark action RPG has been expanded to include multiplayer co-op, PvP duels, and expanded combat mechanics.
Moon Studios will share more information on the progress of the project and details of the upcoming beta phase via its official social media channels in the coming weeks.
