Konami announced Rhapsody in Scarlet, a new action game set in 1920s New York, during its internal presentation. Plenty of magic and a healthy dose of jazz await you.
As part of the Konami Press Start event, the developer and publisher today announced Rhapsody in Scarlet, a new action-adventure game for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC (via Steam). The new title is amazing, set in 1920s New York. There will also be plenty of combo-based combat, the use of magic, and the abilities of mythical beasts – all set in a world influenced by the sounds of the Jazz Age.
You play the role of Ellie Myers, a young magician and aspiring jazz singer who comes to New York hoping to fulfill her dream. However, there is a hidden conflict between those gifted with magic. When Ellie becomes embroiled in a conspiracy involving the mysterious Mafia, she must face forces that threaten New York and the rest of the world.
The announcement also comes with the first trailer, giving you an impression of the fantasy action game’s combat system. There’s also an action-adventure story trailer that introduces you to protagonist Ellie and her allies and gives you an inside look at the conflict in question.
The combat system mentioned relies on a combination of magic and mystical beast abilities. You can chain together a host of melee, ranged, and area-of-effect attacks, switch between different beasts, and adjust your strategy as the battle progresses. Overall, this should create a fluid combat experience centered around creativity, timing, and control.
Otherwise, the scene relies entirely on the Jazz Age – from architecture and cars to fashion and nightlife. The atmosphere of 1920s New York should be captured in detail.
