Playground Games showed off a ton of Fable content at Gamescom. The game was created on the ForzaTech engine, which has never been used in a project of this type before. It was used exclusively for the Forza and Forza Horizon series of racing games, and the decision to make a large-scale role-playing game on it has previously been called controversial by Digital Foundry. But the gameplay showcase at Gamescom convinced them that the game looked very good graphically, surpassing Unreal Engine 5-based projects in some ways.

digital foundry Tell Regarding my impressions of Fable while watching GTA 6:

After watching the game I have to admit [Fable] After watching the GTA 6 footage again, I still think it looks really good. But of course, you can’t expect them to have the same level of detail. [как в GTA 6]. They don’t have a billion dollars to spend on this. But the game still looks very, very good. It has good detail density. They demonstrated the game on a computer. The image is very clear and the resolution is very high. There are tons of geometric shapes in the world. Yes, there are indeed many details in this world.

In the current generation of consoles, the standard for graphics quality is Unreal Engine 5. According to Digital Foundry, Fable on ForzaTech even surpasses it in some aspects:

In fact, when I was watching Fable, I kept thinking, “Oh, this looks like Unreal Engine 5.” But it’s not. It looks like they’ve managed to implement a lot of the features you’d expect to see in a UE5 game, but I’d say their level of visual clarity could be a little better. If you look at other games using Unreal Engine 5, you’ll see the typical noise and blurring.

[…] In Fable, there are only a few screen space effects that “appear” on the screen from time to time, which, let’s just say, looks a little weird. But other than that, damn, it looks awesome.

It’s worth noting that Fable’s Gamescom demo ran on PC at Ultra settings, and Digital Foundry isn’t quite sure how it will scale on consoles. But earlier it was revealed that Fable will be able to run at 60 FPS on Xbox Series X|S.
