IKEA announced an unlikely The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Linkedthe two realities met on September 9th.
The official IKEA Ireland and UK account posted a short film on Instagram, set against the backdrop of a snowy mountain, where a bunch of iconic Skyrim items are abandoned in mass: a Nord helmet, a sword, a book, a cheese wheel… and in the midst of it all, a Kallax shelf white 4×2 Place on top of the pile. The video ends with the date, September 9, 2026along with the words “Come to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim” and a reference to a new creation.
What can we expect?
It’s unclear what the content will include: a set of IKEA furniture that will be placed in one of our homes? A special weapon shaped like an Allen wrench? The task where we have to assemble a piece of furniture from scratch? Or, conversely, will Skyrim elements appear in IKEA stores?
Will The Elder Scrolls 6 be an Xbox exclusive? CEO says ‘every platform needs a certain level of exclusivity’
The intentionally vague nature of the trailer sparked the imagination of fans, who took the opportunity to tease this unexpected crossover. That’s exactly what we imagine the Swedish company is aiming for.
In fact, this initiative is part of IKEA’s growing focus on the gaming world: the brand recently launched Yxstaby seriesa line of furniture designed specifically for gamers and showcased for the first time at Gamescom, Design inspired by Xbox controller. So a crossover with Skyrim, no matter how strange, seems entirely in line with the company’s new strategy.
