Sony Interactive Entertainment and the LEGO Group are joining forces at the end of celebrations for the 30th anniversary of the PlayStation brand. As part of the recent State of Play, the two companies launched an official LEGO PlayStation set, which recreates the legendary first PlayStation console (PS1) from 1994 in 1:1 scale as a detailed model made from clamped bricks. Aimed specifically at adult retro fans, the collectible will be available directly on PlayStation and the official LEGO Store on October 1, 2026 for €199.99.
Comprising a total of 1,911 parts, this set (Set No. 72306) has been carefully developed to capture the distinctive gray look of the original PlayStation as accurately as possible. In addition to the console case, the kit also includes the classic first PlayStation controller, which includes a cable and a replica memory card that plugs into the designated slot.
The model also offers an interactive tactile element: the console’s disc compartment can be mechanically opened using a typical opening button to insert game discs made of stone. As a special treat for fans, the designers placed hidden dioramas inside the junction box console.
When you open the secret page element, two miniature scenes from the defining series of the first console generation become visible: on the one hand the colorful world of the classic platformer Ape Escape, and on the other the starting line of the racing game reference Gran Turismo. In the process, the developers paid due homage to the brand’s fun roots.
LEGO is expanding its popular line of video game kits with this initiative, after classic Nintendo consoles such as the NES and Atari 2600 were crafted into exhibits in recent years. For Sony, this collaboration represents the beginning of a long-term relationship in merchandising.
LEGO PlayStation sets are now available for pre-order at direct.playstation.com and the LEGO online store, and will be officially launched on October 1, 2026.
