Experts highlighted the main directions for the development of the Russian video game industry, focusing on international expansion, strengthening infrastructure and developing its own intellectual property rights. This strategy is important for domestic studios, as access to global markets and reliance on unique universes allows them to create financially successful projects.
Moscow remains a center of attraction for developers, with half of the country’s professional companies concentrated here. The Moscow Video Game and Animation Cluster actively helps studios enter foreign markets through the Moscow Video Game Expert Program and ensures participation in major international exhibitions such as ChinaJoy. Game Art Pioneers’ Gleb Kadomtsev said such support could help overcome barriers to website development in Asia. At the same time, experts stressed that export orientation is a financial necessity due to the limited domestic market.
The second focus is the creation of original intellectual property rights. Developing your own setting provides authors with creative freedom, although it requires significant resources to promote it. In addition, experts urge studios to work closely with the gaming community at all stages of production to allow users to participate in testing and gather feedback.
