Icarus has released its Week 248 update, expanding access to the Slag Deep Mine. Previously, these deposits were only found on Prometheus, but now they appear on all maps in the game, including Outposts.
In the new world, deep veins of slag will form naturally during map generation. In existing locations, players will need the previously introduced Deep Cycler to create deposits. This will allow you to mine new resources without having to start over and acquire the technology associated with them.
The main technical fix this week is the so-called “ghost fire”. Since the server and client are out of sync, the fire can be extinguished on the server but continue to be visible to individual players. The developers explained that the fire system in Icarus not only simulates visual effects, but also heat transfer and flame propagation, making it difficult to fully synchronize between server and client. Extinguished fire particles will now be forcefully cleared client-side, with a full fix for the cause of the desynchronization promised to be released in the coming weeks.
In addition, the developers have fixed the display of skinned timber wolves’ pelts, restored the original gold and brimstone icons, sped up sun and moon position updates, smoothed out shadows at dawn and sunset, and fixed a bug where cutting piglets on the taxidermist’s knife would produce the wrong trophy. The Workshop Power Bank will be added to the game next week.
