Microsoft this week began large-scale testing of disc-to-digital capabilities. Industry insiders at all levels have joined the test, and a total of more than 1,200 disc games have been confirmed to be “translated” into digital licenses. At the same time, Xbox promised to expand the library of games that support the feature.
While testing the feature, owners of the physical version of Halo Infinite discovered that they were unable to properly obtain digital licenses for the story campaign. When converting a Halo Infinite disc, only multiplayer licenses are issued. Since the multiplayer portion of the project is free, actual disc-to-digital conversion is not available for the game.
Xbox quickly confirmed the issue and said they were working on a fix. An update has now been released for all levels of Insiders, including indicatedHalo Infinite should begin converting correctly from disk to digital copy:
Fixed an issue that prevented users from accessing the Halo Infinite story campaign after activating digital authorization.
NOTE: You will need to restart the disc, either by inserting the disc to run the game or by manually activating the license.
After restarting, the system should provide digital access to the Halo Infinite campaign.
Let us remind you that the disc-to-digital feature gives players the opportunity to obtain digital licenses, even for items that have long been discontinued in the Microsoft Store. There are other interesting features revealed in her work.
