At the end of August, the second volume of “Metal Gear Solid: The Master Collection” was launched on all platforms. In this collection, Metal Gear Solid 4 is released on Xbox consoles for the first time. It was previously a Playstation 3 exclusive, with the original game containing a famous joke related to Sony’s console. At some point, the protagonist is instructed to replace the first disk with a second disk. But then Otacon (the engineer on the game) realized that the Blu-ray in the console was dual-layered, so there was no need to change the media.
As part of the Metal Gear Solid 4 game Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Volume 2, the developers adapted this scene specifically for Microsoft consoles. On Xbox Series X | S dialogue is slightly different than on Playstation. Otacon says the Xbox Series X uses “high-capacity media,” so there’s no need to replace the drive.
Wait, snake. It’s time to replace the drive. I know, I know…it’s tiring. But you need to replace disk #1 with disk #2. Do you see the disk labeled “2”? Oh wait. We’re playing on Xbox Series X. The PC version of Metal Gear Solid 4 has different dialogue options. Otacon was surprised that this was a “digital project,” and he later concluded that there was no need to replace the disk.
