Kakao Games has revealed for the first time key art for ArcheAge S: Free Straits, the new MMORPG developed exclusively for PC by XLGAMES. The game’s subtitle is “Free Straits,” and the material presented emphasizes the sea, navigation, and large-scale naval battles.
At the core of the logo, the developers retained the visual style of the ArcheAge series but complemented it with images of the ocean, navigation and compass. The art itself takes a more old-school art style and reinterprets the world of the original project. This image shows off five important characters relevant to the game’s story, set against a backdrop of a fleet crossing the ocean. Therefore, the author believes that the transition from land adventure to naval combat is one of the important components of the new product.
The development of ArcheAge S is led by Kim Kyung-tae, who served as the original planner and producer of the original ArcheAge. XLGAMES intends to maintain the core features of the series but reimagine it to reflect modern gaming trends. It is planned to be released globally in the second quarter of 2027, with the main platform being Steam.
In September, Kakao Games released a video dedicated to the development process. In it, the creators will talk about their principles and plans, demonstrate the main game features, and show off real game scenarios for the first time.
