New artificial intelligence models speed up the search for software vulnerabilities, driving patch counts to unusually high levels. Typically, Microsoft patches about 100 vulnerabilities each month, but the company released about 200 patches in June, at least 570 in July, and closed nearly 400 vulnerabilities in August. The September release should now have over 650 Windows fixes.

Anthropic previously reported that Mythos can create effective exploits for newly disclosed issues in hours instead of weeks, so delays in patching increase the risk of attacks.
The company continues to increase its use of specialized artificial intelligence tools to proactively find weaknesses in its Windows, Azure and other software products. Experts predict that even the current record may be broken in the near future, especially with the emergence of next-generation artificial intelligence models focused on cybersecurity.
