
Onimusha: Kendo, released late last week, is another of Capcom’s best-selling games this year. Within 24 hours of release, Xbox Series X sales exceeded 1 million copies | S, PlayStation 5, Switch 2 and PC.
also attracted media attentionthe Xbox Series X version of “Onimusha: Kendo” physical version is currently completely sold out in the United States. US stores no longer have the game disc in stock and are only available for pre-order, with shipping expected at the end of September.
Notably, Onimusha: Kendo is the first major game to be released directly from disc to digital. Available to purchase | S and “digitally” for Xbox Series X, including a PC copy via Play Anywhere in the Xbox ecosystem. It’s unclear whether the high sales of Capcom’s new titles are due to Disc to Digital support and the additional interest in the project that arose as a result, or if the publisher was initially releasing limited editions.
Please note that Capcom actively supports Xbox disc-to-digital. Almost all of their games support this feature, including this year’s Resident Evil: Village and Pragmata.
