Blood of Dawnwalker: Traitor Wolf releases patch 1.0.4

Just days after the successful launch of Blood of the Dawn Treader, Polish development studio Rebel Wolves has rolled out another patch to continue product maintenance. The development company founded by former Witcher veterans is responding to urgent feedback from the player community and has now made patch 1.0.4 available on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. This update focuses on several critical bugs that may completely block game progress on certain missions or prevent game saves. The team also carried out targeted performance optimization for the PC version and gradually solved minor technical problems during the development stage.

Fixing progress blockers is the focus of the current patch. In addition to this, bugs in missions such as “Deep Down”, “Hive and Seek” and “Smoke and Ashes” have been fixed, where characters would not spawn correctly, loading sequences would get stuck in infinite loops, or interactions would paralyze the plot.

Special attention is also paid to a serious problem in the combat system: in some cases, the blocking mechanism refused to work, or the use of the “Greedy Bite” ability during the intro resulted in a catastrophic soft-lock during the tutorial. The fact that dead non-player characters (NPCs) can no longer start unplanned conversations and that protagonist Cohn is no longer trapped within the walls of the house are also necessary fixes.

On the technical side, the platform-specific tweaks for Steam users are quite compelling. It previously caused a lot of stuttering and framerate drops when the controller was used with an outdated version of the Windows GameInput driver, but with the update, this should be a thing of the past. In addition to detailed graphical tweaks, such as correcting developer assets that were inadvertently left in the finished game, the patch also removes a strange bug where the height of the flare scaled uncontrollably and blocked the view under certain conditions.

The fact that Rebel Wolves has already released multiple hotfixes in a short period of time underscores the studio’s desire to solidify the foundations of the Ambitions project as quickly as possible. For a first novel of this scale, it’s crucial to quickly remove barriers to progress in order to secure the trust of a newly won million-strong fan base over the long term, especially since preparations are clearly already underway for a successor.
