KOEI TECMO and Gust Studios, together with TOHO, announce Pharmacist Diary: The Fake Empire Brothers, the first major game based on the hit anime series Pharmacist’s Monologues. The project will tell a new story created under the direction of original author Hyuganatsu and will be released on PC in early 2027 (steam), PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
The protagonist of “Pharmacist Diary: The Fake Emperor’s Brother” is Maomao, a pharmacist who works in the harem. She will have to investigate two linked series of mysterious events. During the investigation, the girl will meet a mysterious masked man who claims to be the emperor’s younger brother. As Maomao searches, he will uncover a secret that could threaten the entire court.
The investigation will be conducted in multiple locations simultaneously. Players will be able to explore the inner palace, city and surrounding areas, interrogate witnesses and collect evidence. Cats will search outside the capital for medicinal plants and other pharmaceutical ingredients. The resulting drugs are also useful during investigations.
After collecting the data, the deduction phase begins. Maomao systematizes the information found in the notebook, comparing evidence and forming a version of what happened. In some cases, a guess is not enough, so you must provide concrete evidence, combine found information, and choose appropriate answers when arguing with other characters. Wrong conclusions can reduce the interlocutor’s trust and complicate the investigation. The characters in the story include familiar characters, including Jinshi, as well as a new hero, Guangyu, who is gradually becoming popular in the capital.
As part of Tokyo Game Show 2026, Pharmacist Diary: Fake Empire Brothers will be demoed in more detail on September 20 at the KOEI TECMO stage. The broadcast will star Aoi Yuki (voiced by Maomao), Takeo Otsuka (voiced by Jinshi), and Yohei Azakami (voiced by Guangyu).
