Japanese platform holder Nintendo has refused to reimburse consumers for U.S. tariffs on goods they already purchased, but has now decided to thank gamers with new sales.

Nintendo of America declare One of the largest promotions in its history, the Customer Appreciation Promotion, is planned to be held in the Nintendo eShop, Nintendo Store and retail stores.
The Customer Appreciation Sale will run from September 13th to 26th and includes discounts of up to 30% on dozens of Nintendo Switch digital games and bundles, select physical editions, downloadable content, accessories, amiibo and merchandise.
According to Nintendo, the Customer Appreciation Promotion is a way to thank Nintendo players for their continued support. The sale is suitable for both new consumers and long-time owners of the company’s consoles.
The platform holder emphasized that he partially funded the sale by refunding customs duties: “While Nintendo absorbs most of the costs associated with the tariffs, the offsets help make a stock like this a reality.”.

According to August financial reportrefunds at U.S. rates added $300 million to Nintendo. The company sees no need to share payments with users affected by the price increase.
Gamers were unhappy that Nintendo thanked them for shouldering the financial burden of the tariffs by calling for more funding for the company. “That’s not how sales work.”,— remind Circana analyst Mattat Piscatella.
