The gaming world has caused a huge stir: PlayStation Studios has officially announced the end of its partnership with Kojima Productions to develop the ambitious espionage action game Physint. Sony emphasized in a statement that the “difficult decision” was made after a thorough analysis of the situation, but the publisher did not disclose the specific reason for the interruption. Company representatives only added that they continue to admire the game designer’s creative vision and look forward to future collaborations.
The isolated project was not without support – the game’s publishing rights were immediately seized by Microsoft. The head of Xbox’s gaming division said the company was honored to support Hideo Kojima’s idea on such a scale, which breaks the conventional boundaries of the genre.
The Japanese game designer himself confirmed the deal, noting that the collaboration with Microsoft is no longer limited to experimental horror ODs. Kojima said the Physint collaboration will go far beyond video games and will also include co-producing movies and TV series aimed at introducing the new universe to a broad audience.
