A surprise at BlizzCon 2026, albeit a predictable one, is the official return of the legendary sci-fi universe StarCraft. Dan Hay announced the news on stage, showing the public a trailer for the film and confirming a release date – the series is scheduled to return in 2030. This will be the series’ first StarCraft: Remastered 2017.
What will surprise fans the most is a radical change in the genre of the game: a new project in the Cult universe is being developed in the form of a shooter. Footage shown in the trailer shows the warriors training under heavy-handed propaganda from the Earth Dominion, calling on them to join the military “in the name of saving humanity.” Previously, rumors circulated on the Internet that third-party studios (including South Korea’s NEXON) might participate in the development of the brand, but now the project has been officially announced by the publisher itself.
