October 1: Countdown to Tesla second-generation Roadster launch

At a time when even vacuum cleaner manufacturers are preparing to produce sporty electric vehicles, even if only in words, Tesla cannot afford to lose face as the founder of the genre. Regardless, the company has outlined a new phase in its history and plans to launch the second-generation Roadster on October 1 this year.

At least that’s how people can explain the launch on company website Countdown to the Roadster section. The first prototype of the car was shown around nine years ago, and the model managed to become a “long-term build,” but Elon Musk continued to drum up interest in it throughout that period. To illustrate this point, a rather specific image was chosen on the website: a red electric car next to four spotlights that simultaneously resemble an illuminated jet stream. As we all know, Musk has long promised that he will equip the second-generation Roadster with a jet engine, which will help the car not only accelerate faster, maneuver around corners at high speeds, and even take off briefly from the surface of the earth. Since 2018, the company has been preparing to showcase the latest features of the Tesla Roadster.

It is still difficult to say how the launch of the second-generation Tesla Roadster will be organized, since only the date of the event is known, which is the first day of October. In November 2017, the car was announced to be priced at US$200,000 to US$250,000, with a range of about 1,000 kilometers, an acceleration time of less than 2 seconds from 100 kilometers per hour, and a top speed of more than 400 kilometers per hour. The sports car was supposed to go into production in 2020, but 2026 is almost over, and although the company managed to collect advance payments from the first people who wanted to buy it, that hasn’t happened yet. Elon Musk has been planning to show off the Roadster since April this year, but has kept postponing the event. The next milestone is scheduled to arrive on October 1, and there’s not much time left to convince us that the company is serious about ending this issue.
