While hardware manufacturers continue to force users to install separate programs for each piece of hardware that shines (unless, of course, all your hardware is part of the same ecosystem), Open RGB Finally version 1.0 has arrived. Since the release of OpenRGB 0.9 in July 2023, it has taken the open source project nearly three years to reach this goal.
The main idea of the program is simple – control your motherboard’s backlight, RAM, graphics card, keyboard, mouse and other devices from one place. No need to keep ASUS Armory Crate, MSI Center, and five other similar apps at the same time that like to hang in the background and eat up resources.
In OpenRGB 1.0, the profile system has been redesigned. They can now store more information about settings and support binding to events, such as starting and closing programs and waking the computer from sleep. Additionally, the developers have improved background work so that the entire application does not have to remain open.
OpenRGB remains free and supports Windows, Linux and macOS. For users who are tired of manufacturer’s proprietary software, this is one of the programs you really want to install. Especially if your computer already glows brighter than a Christmas tree.
