Creative Assembly wants to make Total War: Warhammer 40,000 as easy as possible for new players to experience without sacrificing the core features of the series. Due to Warhammer 40,000’s growing popularity, the developers anticipate an influx of viewers and intend to welcome new players while avoiding unnecessary brutality.
To this end, the game will feature two training events to gradually introduce players to the game’s mechanics. Due to special interface restrictions, the system will be opened in stages, so beginners do not have to understand the full possibilities at once. This approach helps not only understand the basics of strategy, but also the Warhammer 40,000 universe itself.
Producer Dave Petrie emphasized that the team will not simplify “Total War” beyond recognition. Our goal is more to invite new players to the series and show them why it works in the first place. Additionally, the developers also considered that someone coming to Warhammer 40,000 for the first time might not even know who the Space Marines are.
However, Creative Assembly has no plans to release a sequel to Total War: Warhammer 40,000. Instead, the studio plans to expand a game through updates over the years, gradually filling out its vast, dark universe. In this way, newcomers will have a chance to adapt, and veterans will have a reason not to leave.
